Description of the work
Description of the work
Romano Stefanelli's "Darsena" offers a view of a harbor landscape devoid of human figures, focusing on natural elements and structures. At the center of the image is a fishing boat, its robust form standing out against the sea and the dock in the background. The slightly detached viewpoint allows for detailed observation of both the land and meadow in the foreground, as well as the harbor itself, with the sea seemingly gently enveloping the scene. The clear sky, dotted with white clouds, completes the image, adding brightness and a sense of openness to the entire landscape.
In "Darsena," Romano Stefanelli displays meticulous realism, with every detail rendered with precision. The artist creates a balanced composition, in which the fishing boat and the surrounding nature blend harmoniously. The scene, seen from a detached perspective, blends the green of the meadow with the blue of the sea, with the clear sky adding luminosity. The natural light and soft tones evoke a sense of tranquility, typical of Stefanelli's style.
Romano Stefanelli trained in Pietro Annigoni's studio, mastering various painting techniques, including graphic design. He quickly established himself as a skilled figurative and landscape artist. In 1962, he won the National Portrait Competition in Florence and subsequently created important works for churches, such as the fresco "The Annunciation" for the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Ponte Buggianese. His public debut came in 1968, when he exhibited at the Galleria Levi in Milan. An eclectic artist, Stefanelli explores a variety of genres: from still life to landscape, from portraits to frescoes, and even creating jewelry using embossing and engraving techniques.
