Romina Monteleone is an artist originally from Vibo Valentia who lives and works in Rome. A lifelong passion for painting, she has developed a fascinating exploration of portraiture and the expressive potential of color. For Romina Monteleone, the representation of the human face goes hand in hand with the narrative of the artist's deepest self: its emotions and its connections with the world. For this reason, physiognomic rendering is almost lost in favor of a symbolist-expressionist interpretation that seamlessly blends the subject's presence with a highly emotional and spiritual compositional style. This occurs primarily through color, which transcends a naturalistic conception to cross the boundaries of subjectivity and the subconscious. Depending on the expressive needs, the painter modulates this color using different types of layers: from a smooth and compact flat layer that renders the images iconic, to a quick and concise stroke, to veritable explosions of gestural interventions.
