Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also been a central theme in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism. Ron Di Scenza's works consistently display a highly interesting and original execution, stemming from the artist's highly elaborate technique, which harmoniously blends figuration and abstraction. Ron Di Scenza's style allows him to achieve a dynamic application, with iridescent effects of light and color. This is evident in this beautiful nude, where the exaltation of plasticity in a concrete form does not prevent the painter from exploiting the expressive potential of color. Thus, this female body, though constructed from squared slashes of light, is permeated by intense vibrations of life. Its complicated twist is also echoed in the transparent veil that envelops it, further intensifying the pictorial synthesis. In this way, Ron Di Scenza creates a striking contrast between the smooth forms of the body and the intense white of the veil and bed. Ron Di Scenza was born in Ohio in 1954. After a trip to Italy, he decided to become a painter. Moving with his family to Long Island in 1970, Di Scenza became immersed in the exciting art scene of New York City. With a scholarship, he earned a degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and began a series of artistic illustrations that continued for twenty years. A 1978 poster commissioned by Italian neorealist director Ermanno Olmi for "The Tree of Wooden Clogs" gave Ron Di Scenza his big break. Di Scenza's impressive portfolio as an illustrator includes work for Ballantine Books, Bantam Books, Doubleday, RCA Records, Field & Stream, Sports Illustrated, and Time Magazine. Di Scenza has also designed jewelry and art objects for Tiffany & Co. Other clients include Sony, IBM, and Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
