Description of the work
Description of the work
Graphic art, in general, refers to artworks created using graphic techniques such as engraving, lithography, silkscreen printing, monotype, and other forms of fine art printing. Numerous artists, such as Picasso and Dalí, have explored this type of representation. In this case, Salvatore Carbone, a multifaceted artist, employs the silkscreen technique. The overlapping of geometric and natural forms seems to echo an art history spanning from Futurism to Guttuso. The artist's exploration is not limited to color, but also to the refined composition and rigor of this work, which represents an interior space. The silkscreen technique, which involves using a roller or rubber blade to push ink through the open areas of the underlying base, highlights the breadth of Salvatore Carbone's work. Here, too, as in his paintings, the use of color is prominent, contrasting with the gracefulness of the figures within the paper, revealing a graceful harmony and balance between the drawing and the coloristic approach. The soft strokes blend with the print, playing on the overlapping of forms. Salvatore Carbone was born in Cutrufiano, Lecce, in 1951. He was a painter, sculptor, and set designer. He is an artist with a strong expressionist streak, which emphasizes strong colors and contrasts. In his works, the artist reflects on the history, colors, smells, and atmospheres of his homeland, while also addressing sociopolitical issues.
