Description of the work
Description of the work
A collection of ten lithographs by the painter Sante Monachesi, in which the Marche-born artist demonstrates his connection to the historical French avant-garde. The overall structure of the painting draws close resemblance to Matisse and Fauvism, thanks to the extreme synthesis of the subject and the predominance of strong, aggressive color tones. Space is rendered through elementary fields of color, while the subjects are outlined with a synthetic black line. Sante Monachesi was born in Macerata in 1910 and died in Rome in 1991. Along with Bruno Tano, he was one of the leading proponents of Futurism in the Marche region, founding the "Futurist Movement in the Marche" and the group "Umberto Boccioni, Futurists in the Marche." His first solo exhibition was in Recanati in 1934, marking the beginning of an intense exhibition program that led him to exhibit several times at the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadrennial.
