Description of the work
Description of the work
Sara Montani, born in Milan in 1951, is a multifaceted artist who lives and works in her hometown. After studying at the Brera Art School, she earned a diploma in Scenography from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1973, with a thesis on Bertolt Brecht's "The Threepenny Opera," under the guidance of teachers Tito B. Varisco and Guido Ballo, both influential figures in her artistic career. Her artistic output ranges from painting to sculpture, from printmaking to installations, with a predilection for thematic projects that intertwine personal experiences and collective memory. Of particular note is her research in the field of monotype and monoprinting, techniques that allow her to use atypical materials such as lace and fabrics, creating unique and unrepeatable works. Montani has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, receiving awards such as the 1994 Mondadori Art Prize for Painting and the 2001 Spinetoli National Sculpture Prize. His works are held in public and private collections internationally, in countries such as France, Belgium, Romania, Switzerland, Germany, China, Japan, the United States, Poland, and the Dominican Republic. An active member of the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente in Milan, he has held significant roles within the institution, contributing to the Milanese and Italian art scene. His artistic research, rooted in memory and the transmission of knowledge, continues to evolve, exploring new expressive languages and maintaining an unwavering commitment to the investigation of social reality.
