Description of the work
Description of the work
Facsimile reproduction of manuscript CF 2.5 from the Oratorian Library of the Girolamini in Naples. This precious 14th-century manuscript, illuminated by the "Master of the Seneca of the Girolamini," one of the most representative and skilled illuminators of the Angevin period, contains Seneca's "The Theatre" (the Tragedies), a work that influenced European theater for centuries, leaving evident traces in Shakespeare and Racine, and which great contemporary directors (from Artaud to Peter Brook to Ronconi) have staged.
