Sergio Verginelli - The Angels

The theme of the angel is extremely widespread in both Western and especially Eastern sacred art. This is due to the fact that Byzantine art features more symbolic iconographic themes that reference religious dogma than specific narrative episodes. The figure of the angel often appears in this type of iconography, with its complex dogmatic meanings.
