Silvestro Pistolesi is a painter who has been linked throughout his career to the great Italian pictorial tradition. His work has been described as modern-Renaissance, and rightly so, as this artist displays a profound sense of naturalistic rendering. His subjects come to life by softly interacting with space through a light, nuanced layering of paint. His spatial conception, on the other hand, is solid and rational, yet at the same time grounded in the tonal values ​​of color. The chromatic range, for its part, also contributes to this profound effort at naturalistic rendering, bringing light to enhance the subjects' volumes and forms.

Silvestro Pistolesi was a Florentine painter born in 1943 and passed away in 2022. He trained in Pietro Annigoni's studio, where he remained for ten years, mastering the techniques of the Renaissance tradition that made the great master famous: the use of tempera and glazes. His first solo exhibition was in London in 1972, followed by several shows not only in Italy but also abroad. In 1967 and 1974, he created his first frescoes, "The Supper at Emmaus" and "The Old Woman," in the church of San Michele Arcangelo in Ponte Buggianese, followed by his more famous works in the Abbey of Montecassino in May 1993.
