Description of the work
Description of the work
Armando Marrocco (Galatina, 1939) is an Italian artist, painter, and sculptor, an exponent of the behavioral art movement. His work Uomo e Formica (Man and Ant), 1968, is a significant example. The work was exhibited in Milan in 1971 at Guido Le Noci's Galleria Apollinaire, where the artist reconstructed an anthill habitat with 2,000 live ants, arousing the interest of Pierre Restany and Renato Barilli. A peculiarity regarding the artist's early work is his use of the simple pseudonym Armando Marocco in the 1960s and 1970s, meaning that many of the works from this period are not signed Armando Marrocco but Armando Marocco.
