Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Stefania Nicolini's style can undoubtedly be described as expressionist. The artist begins with a marked formal synthesis of her subjects, which she synthesizes in an abstract manner. At the same time, Stefania Nicolini is capable of modulating a more energetic application, using thick brushstrokes that make the representation more lively and vibrant. In this sense, a characteristic of this artist and a recurring theme in her works (especially in her landscapes) is a dense distribution of color in large, square strokes. In this way, the expressive qualities of color are associated with a structural function that renders the painted surface extremely complex.
Stefania Nicolini lives and works in Rome. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, majoring in Scenography and Architecture. She has been a prominent figure in the national art scene since 1984, appearing in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad. She has participated in exhibitions on Via Margutta and at various academies. She has exhibited her paintings in solo exhibitions at Galleria Leone, Pentart, Art Gallery Tornatora, Galleria Simmi, with Massimo Bigioni's Aion association. She also exhibits in Massa Carrara, Calcata, Tivoli, Reggio Emilia, Grosseto, Spoleto, and Gaeta.
