Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.
The painter's goal is to create a perfectly naturalistic rendering of the subject. To this end, she uses a highly refined technique that allows her to capture every minute detail (of the flowers, the vase, and the perfect blending of shadows) while also capturing the vibrations of light, with more impressionistic touches. Despite this, Susanna Galbarini seems less concerned with atmospheric rendering, maintaining the entire scene on a glossy surface.
Susanna Galbarini is a Milanese artist born in 1954. Initially a teacher, she left her profession to dedicate herself entirely to art and trained at Renato Icardi's evening classes. During her career she has participated in many exhibitions. Among them are Sanremo (Casino Municipale), Cagliari (Galleria Lell), Arma di Taggia (Il Quadrifoglio), Milan (Il Cavalletto), Expo in Verona (group exhibition), Salsomaggiore Terme (Palazzo dei Congressi), Salsomaggiore Terme (Accademia Italia, group exhibition), Diano Marina (Galleria San Marco, solo exhibition). In New York she has exhibited at the Convention Center and in Philadelphia at Valley Forge, as well as in Paris at the Gallerie Maison d'Europe de Paris and in Chantilly at the "Les Fontaines" cultural center.
