Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been an artist's aspiration throughout the centuries. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
In his landscapes, the painter Tassinari demonstrates a strong connection to the Vedutismo tradition. The work seems to reflect this tradition right from the composition, with a dramatic framing encompassing a vast expanse of landscape. But above all, the execution method is consistent with Vedutismo: the artist uses a quick, cursive stroke, roughly delineating details and allowing them to recompose in the viewer's eye. Tassinari manages to blur forms into the atmosphere, constructing objects with a thin line that delineates their contours and then softens them, allowing light to permeate the entire scene.
From an analysis of the style—a rapid, cursive stroke—and the subject—a lyrical landscape—the artist can be defined as a follower of the Vedutismo tradition. We are therefore faced with a painter with a solid academic background, which has provided him with a remarkable technique that allows him to achieve a perfect naturalistic and atmospheric rendering.
