One day, many years ago, I was on the subway, lost in thought, when I felt someone watching me. I raised my head and met the eyes of a woman staring back at me. We stared at each other for a long time, then she disappeared and disappeared into the crowd. I still remember those eyes today; they haunt me.
I hope you too will be fascinated by those eyes that will continue to follow you if you want.
My research on the human body isn't limited to appearance alone; I seek to penetrate the soul, and I do so through the eyes. Fragility, fear, dreams. Color left free to act in search of creative energy.
FEMALE PORTRAITS. Conducted with a fresh and immediate painterly gesture, illuminated by rich hues and rendered vibrant by a series of pictorial interventions. Streaks of spatula-like color, drips, visual disturbances—Ranaldi's female faces, powerfully devoted to beauty, to the instinctive power of expressionism. The beautiful women portrayed and painted by the artist are almost never portraits, but archetypes of contemporary femininity, narrated not only according to current aesthetic canons, but also through psychological exploration.
