Description of the work
Description of the work
The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consisted of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to experiment with naturalistic or photographic reproductions of reality, with contemporary art, the "Still Life" also became a way of interpreting reality. Indeed, as happened, for example, in the Cubist avant-garde or in Giorgio Morandi, the in-depth exploration of objects was aimed at a conceptual representation, taken beyond the mere sensory aspect.

Artist Titti's aim is to offer a simplified interpretation of reality, seeking new values of purity in representation. For this reason, hers can be described as a naïve pictorial style, yet it expresses itself in a highly classical and traditional manner. Her language, in fact, is essentially figurative and finds its broadest expression in the traditional genres of landscape and still life. However, the artist manages to infuse tradition with her originality and personal touch, precisely through her pursuit of purity of representation that defines her style. Concretely, this is expressed in a fluid technique, which resolves subjects with a few, quick but incisive strokes. Objects almost dematerialize in the lightness of the glazes. Even from a chromatic standpoint, the artist favors decidedly pale tones, full of light.
Both in her choice of subjects and her execution method, we can say that the artist Titti moves within the realm of classical, figurative art, yet displays a certain naïve approach to composing her works. Her desire to achieve lightness and simplicity in representation is evident, with the aim of imbuing her artwork with primordial values of purity and innocence.
