Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. Tullio Bartoli is a Tuscan painter, primarily a landscape artist. His subjects are tied to his homeland, and it is therefore the Tuscan countryside that is the protagonist of his works.

Tullio Bartoli is a painter who has been linked throughout his career to the great Italian and Tuscan pictorial tradition in particular. His work can rightly be described as modern-Renaissance, as this artist displays a profound sense of naturalistic rendering. The subjects come to life by softly interacting with space through a light, nuanced, glazed application of paint. The spatial concept, on the other hand, is solid and rational, yet at the same time grounded in the tonal values of color. The chromatic range also contributes to this profound naturalistic rendering, bringing light to enhance the subjects' volumes and forms. However, in this "Pescheto," while the profound sense of naturalistic rendering inherent in Bartoli's painting style remains, we note a more impressionistic approach. The landscape's rendering is rapid and immediate, typical of an en plein air painting style. The application is characterized by rapid touches of color that construct the landscape. The bright pink of the peach trees stands out in the tonal coherence of the pictorial surface.
Tullio Bartoli is a Tuscan painter, born in 1922, who devoted himself primarily to the landscapes of his region. In his controversial biography, he is also known for copying Ottone Rosai, De Chirico, and other 19th- and 20th-century painters. This only confirms his masterful painting technique, clearly academically trained and inspired by a classical painting tradition. Tullio Bartoli's works, in fact, are distinguished by their perfect naturalistic rendering and the overall harmony that unites all parts of the work.
