The painting's style, in fact, focuses on the landscape through simple forms and a humble design. The composition conveys rigor and composure, even as the greenery of the houses depicted lends a softness and a pleasing perspective. Another important element is the painting's use of light, in which the soft light doesn't further weigh down the objects but defines them and casts them with a soft shadow. All this is achieved through a dense brushstroke that leaves no room for nuance, solidifying the warm tones.

Pietro Vanni was born in 1925 in Terzone di Leonessa, in the province of Rieti. A self-taught artist, he balanced his passion for painting with social commitment, serving as a leader in a Catholic-inspired workers' movement. His artistic vocation led him to abandon social commitments and enroll at the School of Art of the Municipality of Rome, where he studied under Professor Marzano. Throughout his career, Vanni participated in numerous artistic events, including the "Biennale d'Arte Sacra di Bologna." Between 1964 and 1970, Vanni received various artistic awards, including the "Il Lavoro Italiano" prize and the "Mostra Nazionale INPS" prize in 1965. In 1964, he was accepted as an associate member of the Accademia Tiberina, and in 1968, he received the "Paese Sera" award at the "La Martiniana" art exhibition. In 1970, he joined the group of contemporary painters "Appello 70," which was committed to combating drug abuse. During the 1970s, he received numerous artistic awards: the "Città di Leonessa" awarded him a gold medal in recognition of his artistic contribution, followed by the "Marco Aurelio Prize" for painting and the "Trofeo della Città di Leonessa." After the 1978 earthquake, Vanni participated in the restoration of the Church of San Pietro a Terzone, contributing the terracotta panels of the "Via Crucis." In 1982, the President of the Republic, Sandro Pertini, awarded him the title of "Cavaliere del Lavoro." Between 1957 and 1996, Vanni organized forty solo exhibitions in various Italian cities, including Rome, Florence, Verona, and Turin. He died in Rome in December 2002.
