Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The painter Veda, as we can see from this painting, constructs his landscapes primarily through color. The composition is two-dimensional, and the objects appear to overlap rather than be arranged in depth. The painter breaks with the perspective grid in pursuit of an unconventional vision, more in line with the human eye's field of vision. In this context, the objects are constructed through large splashes of color that, arranged on different planes, create a complex space. In terms of color, the artist creates a coherent surface, chromatically unified in an atmosphere of brownish tones.
The painter Veda interprets his landscapes with a rather classical vision. His technique, however, consisting of bold touches of color, seems to be inspired by Paul Cézanne. From the great French master, he draws inspiration for the structural function of color and the predominance of brown tones.
