Verdi, the Man, the Artist, the Myth - UTET

The volume is based on the extraordinary epistolary material drawn from the immense documentary heritage preserved at the National Institute of Verdi Studies in Parma . The volume brings together a selection of excerpts from over 120 letters written by or addressed to Verdi. The letters are accompanied by commentary written exclusively for UTET Grandi Opere by Giuseppe Martini , musicologist and collaborator of the National Institute of Verdi Studies.

The volume's text is accompanied by a rich and spectacular iconographic apparatus of over 150 images, including reproductions of documents, posters, paintings, sketches of sets and costumes, and period photographs, to relive the evocative power of a great period in our national history, from the Risorgimento to the birth of a united Italy, to the dawn of the new century.
