Villa in the fog

The work depicts a landscape of the Venetian countryside with one of its typical period villas overlooking the canal. The setting is daytime, although the fog obscures much of the background and landscape, yet it doesn't completely obscure the pale sun peeking out from the top of the canvas. The forest manages to partially pierce the blanket of fog and presents the viewer with cold tones and poorly defined features. The villa, the protagonist of the landscape, is also faintly shrouded in mist, yet nevertheless reveals itself in all its grandeur and elegance.
