Vincenzo Balsamo has gone through several artistic phases, beginning with figurative works in the 1950s and 1960s and continuing with geometric and informal abstraction in the 1970s. His "Decompositions" and "Nebulae" express a strong contrast between line and color, while his "Evocations" evoke surreal elements. In the early 1980s, his second phase of abstraction marked the conclusion of the "Analysis and Experimentation" period. From 1987, Balsamo reached his peak with "Lyrical Abstraction," an evolution of Italian Divisionism, in which line, color, and light combine to explore the human interior. Today, he is considered one of the leading exponents of abstraction.
