A wooden or hardboard surface of various sizes is used. On this, a rough sketch of the image to be created is drawn, focusing on the most important lines. Then, one at a time, a layer of vinyl glue (the type used by carpenters) is spread, just enough to ensure the grains adhere well without allowing the glue to leak out after the pieces are placed together, and keeping in mind that vinyl tends to shrink or contract as it dries. At this point, the granite stones are applied in various colors, which have natural, rustic hues. Not all colors are available, as river granite is a very difficult material to find, especially in the rare shades of blue, red, green, and bright yellow. Therefore, there are approximately a dozen available hues, which can be adapted to the context of the artistic representation. The shape of each stone must also be adapted and oriented based on the design to be composed. The larger, more shapeless grains are patiently crushed and, in some cases, especially for smaller areas of the design, are reduced almost to sand. The difficulty lies in achieving the resemblance and nuances of granite, which is a truly long and painstaking process. The final touch is a coat of clear varnish to further enhance the natural color of the many stones used. We are therefore dealing with pure craftsmanship!
