Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Violetta Mastrodonato's style is highly personal and recognizable. The artist tends to reconstruct phenomenal reality through a process of redefinition using color and material. The structure of her canvases, in fact, is not constituted by the drawing, but rather by the depth conveyed by a color that is simultaneously material and dense. Through the application of surfaces of color, Violetta Mastrodonato creates an interplay of planes that reconstructs reality almost plastically. The planes intersect, giving rise to a compositional complexity that makes the space conceived by Violetta Mastrodonato multifaceted.

Violetta Mastrodonato was born in Capodistria in 1954 and lives and works in Montesilvano. A painter, she has been active on the art scene for over forty years. Beginning with a figurative vision and language, over the years she has developed various experiences that have led her to painting cycles with themes and techniques related to the informal, abstract, and conceptual. Recently, her research has included the use of various materials, recovered and recycled, for expressive purposes and in environmental installations. She organizes and conducts workshops and promotes cultural events. Since 1994, she has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad. She has received numerous awards and recognitions. Many of her works are held in private collections and museums.
