Description of the work
Description of the work
The codices are bound using the traditional methods of ancient artisan bookbinders. The work, carried out in workshops that still retain the ancient manual press, involves hand-stitching the headband and leaves, fully respecting the outline of the manuscript's pages. Finally, the cover is reproduced in facsimile, rigorously respecting all the characteristics of the original: each step is carried out by hand, respecting the manuscript's leafage and using period materials. The type of parchment paper used, whose unique quality ensures that every single sheet is identical to the original, is produced by a trusted paper mill: parchment paper, after an "aging" treatment, recreates the same vibrancy that the passage of time has wrought on the original. The color of the parchment is then faithfully reproduced during the printing process: every sign of aging—such as folds, stains, and transparencies—is reproduced precisely, helping to give the codex the same antique feel that characterizes the medieval manuscript.
