Description of the work
Description of the work
The iconography of this painting certainly has allegorical meanings and can be defined, in some ways, as symbolist precisely because of its allusion to underlying meanings. It is a type of subject that can be traced back to the artistic language of late nineteenth-century painters such as Moreau and Odilon Redon, who, in addition to complex iconography, also sought a certain formal abstraction.
The composition is based on a fluid rhythm that creates a swirling motion across the painting's surface. This rhythm is triggered by the color flowing freely across the canvas, determining the curvilinear movements that characterize the pictorial space and, in parallel, constructing the forms that follow the same linear progression. In this way, the objects are synthesized in a sort of color-based expressionism.
Walter Campetti Malaspina is a poet, writer, and painter. His works, both literary and visual, are closely linked by a Symbolist aesthetic.
