Description of the work
Description of the work
The large canvas depicts a group of sailboats immersed in a wind-blown seascape. The scene is not defined in minute detail, but rather conveyed through dynamic brushstrokes and intense color combinations. The water and sky seem to merge in a play of reflections and luminous vibrations, where cool shades of blue and white are brightened by touches of red, yellow, and pink. The movement of the sails, light and blown by the wind, emerges with expressive force, conveying a sense of freedom and harmony. Warner's style is immediate and expressive, characterized by quick, fluid brushstrokes that dissolve contours into a vibrant, nuanced effect. The artist doesn't linger on realistic detail, but constructs the scene through intense color juxtapositions and essential lines, suggesting rather than describing. The sea, the sky, and the sails are not separate elements, but merge into a single vision, where light and color take center stage. The use of warm tones alongside cool ones amplifies the sense of depth and movement. Warner is the pen name with which Vilmo Galimberti (1944-2006) always signed his works. Formed under the influence of masters such as Gino Meloni, Giampiero Maggi, and Giorgio Michetti, his painting is nourished by a strong chromatic sensibility and a personal interpretation of landscape. His exhibitions, beginning in 1983, have toured various Italian and international cities, with particular success in Sardinia and the United States. His art, centered on light, space, and color, is an authentic expression of his worldview, summed up in his own statement: "color is the joy of my life."
