Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images. Zannoni's abstract art is based on an essentially geometric reconstruction of reality.
In Zannoni's research, sensory reality is subjected to a mechanical reconstruction that essentially draws on the historical abstract avant-garde. Indeed, in his works, such as the one here presented, sensory reality is still somehow recognizable, but the artist's perception transfigures everything into an interplay of pure forms and pure colors. This transformation unfolds through a process of subtraction that seeks the essence of things in a minimal and exquisitely geometric guise. For this reason, the composition is resolved on a two-dimensional plane in a system of bold black lines that construct circles and squares. Color plays a fundamental role in filling the backgrounds, fueling the painter's perceptual play, in a sort of magical geometry à la Paul Klee.
As we can see from an analysis of this work, Zannoni's artistic practice has embraced abstract poetics in a geometric reconstruction of sensory reality. The artist communicates his perception of the world through an interplay of pure forms and pure colors reminiscent of Paul Klee.
